Artist's statements are difficult because art is a non-verbal communication of a feeling. I can tell you that capturing the feeling using canvas and color is work. Communicating it to the viewer is magic. This magic has become a very motivating force and leads me to branch off into different media and techniques.
I can also tell you I've been at this work since childhood. I've gone from graphite to watercolor to acrylic and oil and back again. Many galleries and shows in the mid-Atlantic area have been kind enough to include my paintings and, if I may be so bold, some pieces have captured the eye of
various judges.
But what I can't tell you is what a painting says to you. If I've succeeded in communicating an emotion to you via a painting then there's nothing more to say. I don't want to diminish your experience with an explanation about
why
I painted it or what the painting means to me. If the
communication
has failed, I'll take that as a message that I
have more work to do and I
thank you for stopping by.
